Service Charge Accountant
My client is a private investment and development company, specialising in commercial and residential property across the South East of England. The business prides itself on longstanding customer and service provider relationships, supported by a highly dedicated head office team based in Rustington, West Sussex.
The newly created role of service charge accountant will report to the financial controller of the property division and will have responsibility for managing and improving the in-house service charge process for the commercial, residential and office portfolios.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Provide full accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and compliance for the service charge function.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data to support internal and external reporting.
- Periodic invoicing, reconciliation and budget setting in collaboration with property management.
- Scope and design a full suite of service charge reports including relevant analysis and reconciliations.
- Support the production of statutory accounts and respond to auditor queries.
- Liaise effectively with property managers, managing agents, and other stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- An experienced property service charge accountant, or someone who has worked in a business/role which involves extensive transferable skills.
- Confident working with accounting platforms such as Qube / Summit, and with Excel-based reporting.
- Able to demonstrate an analytical mindset.
- Detail-oriented, accurate and committed to meeting deadlines.
- A great team player who communicates clearly, works collaboratively, and is proactive and adaptable.
