Associate Director, Accounting
My client is Rug Doctor Ltd., the successful UK subsidiary of US-based Bissell corporation, which has operations and customers spanning the globe. The business has ambitious plans to improve its presence across the EU by leveraging key marketplaces, so this is an exciting time to be joining the team. The associate director, accounting, is the most senior finance person in the UK, reporting to the local managing director and to the group finance director in Michigan. Heading up a team of nine staff who cover management and financial accounting, credit control and asset loss, this is a broad commercial accounting position which will require intellect, tenacity, and superb leadership skills.
Your remit will include:
• Preparation of monthly management accounts and reports for submission to the US
• Managing and motivating the finance team to ensure the smooth-running of the accounting function and to provide a team-oriented service to the business as a whole
• Working collaboratively with peers in sales/operational teams and supporting the managing director in all aspects of financial control, reporting and business strategy
• Developing systems to ensure they are in-line with group and local business requirements
• Setting and maintaining accurate controls to mitigate risk
• Cash and debt management
• Reporting and tax compliance to corporate and GAAP standards and overseeing the annual audit.
Our ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications, experience and personal skills:
• ACMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, with proven success at FC (or an equivalent) level in a commercially focused role
• Experience with major retailers and the challenges a digital trading environment brings would be an advantage
• Proven success in supporting an MD in business strategy during periods of growth and change
• Experienced in subsidiary reporting, ideally to an overseas parent company
• A proven leader who promotes teamwork and has positively influenced operational teams
• Ambitious, with the desire to succeed
• Happy to be very hands-on when required and also able to see the bigger picture!
