Trainee Accounts Assistant - Hobgoblin Music

Worthing £9.00 per hour (16 hours per week)

My client is Hobgoblin Music, a successful privately-owned musical instrument business which has eight busy shops around the country, and a strong online presence. The head of finance is looking for a bright and hardworking trainee accounts assistant to join her small team and to take on some of the ever-increasing work load! Your key duties will be: * Data input to sales and purchase ledgers using the accounts and retail software * Investigating discrepancies and dealing with queries * Filing, office administration and answering the telephone. To be considered for the position you will be: * Studying AAT level 2 * Able to demonstrate knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping * A great communicator who will make a positive contribution to the team and company * Computer literate with strong Excel skills and an aptitude for accounts software. My client is A C Tax Services Ltd., a well-established, highly respected firm of accountants and tax advisors which has been providing clients with the full range of business accounting services for over 25 years. The firm is now headed by a young, forward-thinking qualified accountant who is keen to further strengthen his team by recruiting a new semi senior accountant. You will be responsible for all aspects of bookkeeping and accounts preparation to trial balance using the Iris software package. This will include: • Receiving instructions and documentation from a broad range of limited companies and sole traders • Dealing with client enquiries and resolving queries • Inputting accounting data to Iris and ensuring reconciliations and control accounts are maintained to a high standard of accuracy • Submitting TB accounts to the director and assisting him and other colleagues to ensure deadlines are met for final accounts preparation. The financial controller is the most senior finance person in the UK, reporting to the local managing director and to the CFO in the US. Heading up a team of around 14 staff who cover accounts/payroll, sales administration, purchasing and IT, this is a broad business accounting position which will require intellect, tenacity and superb leadership skills. The successful person will also have the potential to step up to an FD role within a year of so of joining the team.
