Accountancy Trainee

My client’s company is a growing business with a strong reputation and a really supportive team of professional people who are based at the Portslade office. The finance director would like to take on a trainee to learn all aspects of accountancy. You will receive a study package for the AAT qualification (evening study). You’ll be doing a lot of data input to the Sage accounts system so you must be an accurate worker who takes pride in doing a great job. You’ll also have strong Word and Excel skills. To be considered for this opportunity you’ll have five GCSEs at C grade or above (to include Maths and English) and a further qualification in a maths, business or accountancy related subject. Accounts Assistant

This is a fantastic opportunity for a bright and hardworking accounts assistant to join an expanding company which is based near to Haywards Heath. Reporting to the finance manager, you will be given responsibility for sales and purchase ledgers using the Sage system as well as all associated reconciliations, filing and administration. It’s the kind of position you can really make your own, and the accounts team are absolutely lovely so you will enjoy a positive working atmosphere too. Our ideal candidate will have between one and two years’ recent experience in sales and/or purchase ledger and be a very savvy person who knows their debits from their credits! You will also be a whiz with Sage and Excel and be keen to learn and develop your accounts knowledge. There will be study support available for AAT. Credit Controller

As a key member of this lively Credit Control department you will be responsible for taking a proactive and dynamic approach to outstanding balances and payments. You will be responsible for the reduction of debt via telephone, email and letter, ensuring it stays at a low level and effectively deal with discrepancies. You will assist the team with managing the pipeline of arrears, allocation of payments and taking a decisive approach to errors. This is a newly-created position for a dedicated and hardworking accountant to join one of the area’s leading companies. Reporting to a very supportive financial controller, you will be given full responsibility for ensuring the accurate reporting on financial accounts for a number of branch offices, with all associated reconciliations and administration. There will also be the opportunity to take on management accounts duties in the future. You will need strong accounting systems knowledge and be an advanced user of Excel. The position will suit someone who is AAT qualified or part-qualified (stopped studying) ACCA or CIMA or possibly someone who has earned their stripes by gaining practical accountancy experience with a business which has a turnover of in excess of £20m (preferably with a multi-site or branch structure). Key duties will include: Processing staff expenses and commissions. Journal preparation, posting and calculation of accruals. Payroll / petty cash accounting and reconciliation. Assist with the production of balance sheet reconciliations. Assistance with audit query resolution. Statistical reporting, EC Sales and Intrastat reporting. VAT reconciliation. Company Accountant with Fine Cut Group

Due to forthcoming retirement, the directors are looking for a dedicated and exceptionally professional commercial accountant to take on the bookkeeping, management reporting and compliance for the business. Managing a small accounts team, your key duties will be: • Accurately maintaining ledger transactions for the four companies, with all associated reconciliations using Sage 50. • Importing data from the bespoke business system. • Updating cashflow spreadsheets using Excel. • Aged debtor analysis and credit control as required. • Reconciling banks, reviewing balances, checking PayPal and other payment records. • Overseeing purchase ledger, BACS runs and ensuring remittances are issued. • Running the payroll for 42 monthly paid staff. • All HMRC compliance. • Preparation of month-end journals and providing reports to directors on a timely basis. • VAT preparation and EC sales listings. • Yearly accounting processes, reconciliations and reviews in liaison with external accountants. • Project costing and cost reviews with directors. • Company secretarial duties such as business insurance. Our successful candidate will be an AAT qualified accountant or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or possibly an ACA qualified accountant making a first move from Practice). You will be comfortable working at this level for the long-term and be a really positive person with proven team leadership skills.
